A VANET Solution to Prevent Car Accidents
نویسندگان
چکیده
Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) are regarded as the adequate solution to cooperative driving between communicating cars on the road. There are strong economical interests in this field since vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication allows to improve traffic safety, to improve route planning, or to control traffic congestion. The 802.11p is a draft amendment to the IEEE 802.11 standard for vehicular communications. It has been adopted by Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE), which defines an architecture to support Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). In this work we present a driver warning system in which damaged vehicles send warning messages and the rest of the vehicles make the diffusion of these messages. We concentrated on diffusion of warning messages sent by damaged nodes in order to inform the rest of vehicles in the scenario in 802.11p-based VANETs. The target is to send vehicle safety messages with high reliability and low delay. We performed a sensibility study to evaluate the impact of varying some parameters in the proposed advertisement system. We show that the propagation delay is lower when node density increases and that the percentage of blind nodes (i.e., nodes that do not receive these packets) highly depends on this factor. Finally, the results demonstrated that, to obtain the lowest possible propagation delay in our system, the best solution is that messages have different priorities depending on their characteristics. Keywords—vehicular ad hoc networks, performance evaluation, inter-vehicle communication.

A Reputation System for Traffic Safety Event on Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks
Traffic safety applications on vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have drawn a lot of attention in recent years with their promising functions on car accident reduction, real-time traffic information support, and enhancement of comfortable driving experience on roadways. However, an inaccurate traffic warning message will impact drivers’ decisions, waste drivers’ time and fuel in their vehicles...

Introduction : in any car accident four factors may be involved: human factor, road, vehicle and environment. About 90 to 95 percent of car accidents in Iran are caused by human factor which could be pointed out as driving errors, traffic misconception, tiredness, drowsiness, drug and alcohol consumption driving in dark hours (late night, early morning, and after lunch), youngsters' driving, ...
متن کاملA Survey on the Routing Protocols in Vanet
VANET is specialized application of MANET. The need VANET is felt as the number of vehicles are swelling remarkably thereby the traffic density has grown many times. The voluminous traffic density results in more and more accidents. Therefore the manufactures, researchers and Government are forced to improve the on-road safety along-side improving the quality of the roads. As the Wireless techn...
متن کاملSmart Trust Management for Vehicular Networks
Spontaneous networks such as VANET are in general deployed in an open and thus easily accessible environment. Therefore, they are vulnerable to attacks. Trust management is one of a set of security solutions dedicated to this type of networks. Moreover, the strong mobility of the nodes (in the case of VANET) makes the establishment of a trust management system complex. In this paper, we present...

Background: Car accidents are among the first 10-leading causes of death worldwide that impose large expenses on societies. Variety of factors including alteration in traffic pattern or observation of traffic rules in Ramadan may influence the frequency of car accidents. The present study was conducted to compare car accidents in Ramadan with other months during a 4-year period (1997-2000). Ma...

In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for VANET using cloud computing. We accomplish processing, routing and traffic control in a centralized and parallel way by adding one or more server to the network. Each car or node is considered a Client, in such a manner that routing, traffic control, getting information from client and data processing and storing are performed by one or more serve...
